As a plant operator, you will manage the core components of our production and manufacturing. The modern plants produce products for the medical and automotive industries in large quantities and package them. You will plan production processes, set up plants, and monitor the entire manufacturing process.
You independently carry out repairs and maintenance and are responsible for the highest quality standards. This ensures that every product meets strict regulations and customer needs.

You enjoy working with technical equipment and are interested in innovative textile technologies. With your technical understanding and manual dexterity, you work precisely, carefully, and with concentration.

1st and 2nd year of apprenticeship: Block teaching, 10 weeks of 5 school days each
3rd year of apprenticeship: 9 weeks of 5 school days each; distributed throughout the school year at the vocational school - School Subjects
Production technology, plant technology, mathematics, physics, labor law, economics, communication, English, as well as project work, with a focus on practical training and maintenance of production plants.

What are the main tasks during the apprenticeship?
Plant operators operate and monitor complex production plants, carry out maintenance work, check product quality, create production documentation, and ensure a smooth manufacturing process.
What skills and interests should one bring?
Technical interest, manual dexterity, and the ability to work with concentration and precision are ideal. You should enjoy working with modern machinery and want to take responsibility for complex production processes. Teamwork and independent work are just as important as reliability and the willingness to continuously learn.
I don't have a driver's license yet. Can I still start the apprenticeship?
Yes, the apprenticeship is in our company. You do not need a driver's license.
Are there inter-company courses?
Yes, during the apprenticeship, inter-company courses are attended, which last between 24 and 45 days depending on the specialization.
Career Prospects
After basic vocational training, there are various further education opportunities, e.g., professional examinations (BP), higher professional examinations (HFP), or university of applied sciences degree programs in Textile Business Management or Fashion Design. Jobs are mainly found in Ostschweiz and Tessin.
Salary during apprenticeship
Apprentice salaries increase annually; at Sefar, they range from CHF 1,000 in the 1st year of apprenticeship to CHF 1,400 in the 3rd year.
